How I am going to get my first job in Journalism...

I am approaching the end of my course in magazine journalism and the job market is looking pretty thin. The likelyhood is that I will leave the course and probably start working for a local pub in hometown San'hurst or, if heaven forbid, start cleaning the toilets for the council. OK, maybe I am taking the p*** there! ( watch out for the puns).

Anyway, I do have a back-up plan of action should I fail to get a job in the media industry the normal way.

Of course ideally I would see a job, apply for it, get an interview, and then get the job at a well respected publication with not-totally-appalling pay.

However I am well aware that this may not happen so plans B, C, and D are taking shape as we speak. It goes something like this....

Apply for job
Get an interview
Interviewer is complete underwhelmed by my performance and immediately throws my CV in the bin
------------------------------------
b) Tell him/her that my rusack that they thought contained my lunchbox with marmite sandwiches actually contains a bomb- I then sign the contract and later claim he/she is completely delusional (thereby ruining their reputation and increasing mine)

c) research my interviewer and find out a piece of information that could be used for emotional blackmail (EG 'my dad's a brain surgeon, she did the operation on your husband') P.s This is obviously a lie but that's not the point.

or

d) If you've no chance of a job you could always adopt 'extreme blagging'. This could include lying on your CV and telling some airy-fairy story about how you've got exclusives lined up with some of the world's biggest stars. Beware- this only works if he/she is impressively incompetent at their job.

Sadly I think the most likely route is working for nothing for ages before they feel sorry enough for you that they give you a job....but at least I have a few options!
